Poppy holds a MBA from IE Business School (Spain) ; B.Com (economics) from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University (NMMU, South Africa); a B. Com Honors Economics, also from the NMMU.
Poppy Matshaya is an experienced marketing professional with seven- years’ experience in the automotive industry, currently working at Microsoft as a Product Marketing Manager. Poppy began her career at General Motors South Africa in 2007 as part of the Product Planning division, working on the locally produced Isuzu KB range. In this role she supported the development of the go-to-market strategy for future vehicle programs with a 5 – 10-year outlook. In 2010, she joined the Sales and Marketing division at Fiat Group South Africa, where she nurtured and grew her passion for marketing, especially digital marketing and social media. She was a key member of the team that drove the realignment strategy of the Fiat 500 brand in South Africa and re-launched the iconic Abarth back into the local market. Her last role in the automotive sector was with the Ford Motor Company, where she was Brand Manager for their small passenger vehicles. She was involved in the launch of the Ford EcoSport, which was a game changer for the local mini-SUV market. After the completion of her post-graduate business studies in 2015, she joined Microsoft as Product Marketing Manager. In this role she is focused on helping businesses realize the value and benefits of digital transformation by leveraging the various cloud solutions that are part of Office 365.
